Your help with GOTV in 2008 is absolutely essential for us to meet our goal of electing Democrats.  This year we have the opportunity to elect a Democratic President, maintain our majority in Congress, and improve on the gains we have made in the past at the local and state level.  We are working hard to turn Collin County, Texas, and our nation blue – and we need your help to do it!   How you can help:   1.  Join the TDWCC "A Call A Day" Club. When TDWCC put together our Primary Get Out The Vote plan, we were optimistic about what we could accomplish, but the eagerness and determination of Democratic volunteers in Collin County has been more than we could have hoped for.  We sent out a call for volunteers and the response was outstanding! Through TDWCC, Democratic volunteers in Collin County held 5 voter registration drives, knocked on 225 doors, and made 3,125 calls!  Volunteers logged a total of 198 hours of hard work.  We hope you will help us keep this wonderful momentum going and continue to volunteer to Get Out The Vote!                           Click here to see a list of the wonderful TDWCC GOTV planners, activity supervisors, and volunteers involved during the Primary.          For those who may be new to GOTV, please find some information below about a few of the main GOTV activities.  From now until early voting starts on October 20, 2008 most of our work will be to register voters, inform voters, and do voter ID (identify who will be voting for Democrats).  The more work we do now, the more people we can turn out to vote for Democrats!   Voter Registration Voter registration volunteers meet at a location such as a grocery store or community event and register people to vote.  It is helpful if you are a Deputy Voter Registrar, but not mandatory.  To find out more information about the quick and easy process of becoming a Deputy Voter Registrar in Collin County, please call the Collin County Elections Department at 972-547-1990.   Block Walking Volunteers meet at a designated location.  After a brief training, volunteers are sent out in groups of two or more to block walk (knock on pre-designated doors) in a neighborhood.  Depending on where we are in the election cycle, block walkers speak to residents about our party/candidates, hand out literature, provide yard signs, remind people to vote, and/or ask voter ID questions.  You do not need to be a veteran block walker to volunteer, just a passionate Democrat.  We will provide you with the scripts, literature, information and training you need.   Phone Banking Volunteers meet at a designated location to call voters.  Depending on where we are in the election cycle, callers will remind people to vote and/or ask voter ID questions.  Callers will not be asking for money.  You do not need to be a veteran phone banker to volunteer, just a passionate Democrat.  We will provide you with the scripts and training you need.
